Where is the Wickaninnish Inn?
The Wickaninnish Inn is located in Tofino, a remote village on the west coast of Vancouver Island with a population of approximately 1,850 residents. Nanaimo, the nearest large city is a 3 hour drive away.

Tofino is a relaxed casual place completely given to unwinding and getting back to nature. It is an intriguing mix of wide sandy beaches and old growth forests, fishing boats, and whale watching zodiacs, loggers and surfers, causal eateries and eclectic fine dining. The region is a year-round destination where you can witness the drama of a winter storm, bask in the warmth of a summer day, or explore nature's magic in a tidal pool. Tofino is set amidst the natural beauty of Clayoquot Sound (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) and adjacent to Pacific Rim National Park offering a wide variety of activities for everyone to enjoy. Kayaking, surfing, hiking, picnics, whale watching and sightseeing are only a few of the activities available.

Due to the remoteness of our location, we recommend you visit the following websites to familiarize yourself with the services, housing availabilities and events of the Tofino / Ucluelet area.

What is in it for you?
As a small family run property focused exclusively on being the best of the best, we provide many opportunities to take on accelerated responsibility and learn a variety of skills across a number of departments. We seek talented, motivated individuals who demonstrate a passion for service excellence and who want to work in an environment that provides growth and development opportunities. We are committed to those who are committed to us and believe strongly in allowing individuals the opportunity to discover and develop their skills to the fullest extent possible.

Whether you are considering the hospitality industry as a career, desire an opportunity to learn lifelong skills that transcend all work environments or want to hone your existing talents to the highest level possible the Wickaninnish Inn provides these opportunities and much more.

We are fortunate to be a year round resort and although we are somewhat quieter in the winter, we do provide year round employment. We prefer longer-term employees as we appreciate and recognize that the quality of service they are able to provide increases proportionately with experience in their positions. If you are able to commit a year with us, we very much encourage you to apply.

How does the employment process work?
We take our candidacy selection seriously. Should you apply you can expect a preliminary phone conversation in which we would discuss general information. At the time, if we wish to pursue you as a candidate we would request a person-to-person interview.

New employees attend an Orientation Session in their first days of employment. Orientation includes a review of our Employee Handbook and Service Standards, a tour of our property and guestrooms and an opportunity to finalize all employee start-up paperwork, culminating with a familiarization lunch in The Pointe Restaurant.

All positions at the Wickaninnish Inn are subject to a 3-month introductory period. Within the 90-day introductory period employees will also attend skill sessions and service seminars. This provides employees ample time to be trained in their new position and as well, the opportunity to settle into community life in Tofino. This period also provides the Wickaninnish Inn appropriate time to evaluate the employee's performance, and gauge an employee's suitability, potential and level of commitment.

Accommodation in the Tofino / Ucluelet area
As Tofino is a busy resort destination at times housing arrangements are only available October through May. Year round, or summer only housing can be more challenging to find. We do have a limited number of Wickaninnish Inn arranged staff accommodation units. Our Staff Accommodation units offer a dormitory living style with shared bedrooms and communal living spaces. Staff Accommodation is offered on a first-come first-serve basis, and is meant to be a temporary living situation for new employees. Staff Accommodation is only available for a maximum of 4 months, thus allowing employees to become familiar with the Tofino area and obtain living accommodations on their own.
