Job Description

Basic Function: Fiduciary responsibility to ensure that property actions, programs, interactions which affect employees are conducted in accordance with Benchmark policy and all local, state and federal laws.

Qualifications:
 Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years
 HR generalist experience preferably hotel-based preferred.
 Equivalent of five years generalist experience in hotel/hospitality environment acceptable.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
 Proven supervision of staff, benefits programs, and project management required.

Carry out the policies and procedures of the property, Benchmark, and State and Federal guidelines or laws while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism. In the exercise of these duties, an atmosphere of open communication, teamwork and the utmost confidentiality must be visibly demonstrated.

Ensures local, state and federal regulations are followed. i.e., FMLA, FLA, COBRA/HIPPA Enforce, develop, and revise policies as it relates to employees.

Develops and maintains reasonable budgetary goals and supervises department payroll and expenses.

Ensures the interviewing and selection process is conducted within guidelines set by: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act 1964, ADA, Affirmative Action, and EEOC. This process includes the following:

Coordinate all employment activities for exempt and non-exempt positions Publicize openings within property to encourage employee promotions and transfers

Advertise position openings with state agencies, non-profit agencies, and schools

Create newspaper advertisements

Attend job fairs

Position property as the preferred hospitality employer in the area area through a creative Marketing recruitment approach.

Support and encourage internship and apprenticeship programs.

Network in community to develop positive relationship with local businesses and Chamber of Commerce.

Coordinate and ensures accurate administration of employee benefit programs

Execute 401K and other company supported insurance programs to include eligibility requirements, claims inquiries, dependent additions/ deletions, monthly billing reconciliation’s, up-to-date listing of current enrollment, and COBRA/HIPPA administration.

Annual audit of insurance billing to ensure accuracy.

Direct Worker's Compensation and OSHA compliance programs with respect to filing and monitoring of all claims. Ensure training compliance and program participation in Safety Committee initiatives are at adequate levels.

Coordinate/and or conduct investigations of accidents resulting in lost time/serious injury.

Oversee Safety Committee activities to include suggestions of improving safety on property and any cost savings benefits.

Conduct annual wage and benefit survey of local competition to ensure our pay and benefits are equal to or better than the competition.

Assures employee status of exempt or non-exempt is within FLSA guidelines and coordinates the same with payroll department.

Ensures appropriate personnel are notified of upcoming performance evaluations and ensures non-discriminatory evaluations are conducted.

Supervise employee communication programs including publication of quarterly employee newsletter, employee bulletin boards, suggestion box, quarterly team meetings and news center postings.

Supervises recognition programs to include: employee of the month/year, supervisor of the month/year, summer outing, employee appreciation program, etc.

Ensures all new hires are provided with a copy of their job description, training manual, employee manual, benefit information, etc.

Directs performance counseling and disciplinary actions throughout entire property to ensure all meetings with employees are conducted with respect and within the guidelines set forth by Benchmark.

Acts as a liaison to involve corporate Human Resources regarding potential legal and/or policy issues and questions.

Directs involuntary separation of employees at all times through the use of guidelines, state and federal laws by conducting unbiased investigations.

Ensure consistency of file maintenance and government agency report submissions is in accordance with Benchmark policy and applicable legal requirements to include:

Complete and accurate employee personnel files, worker's compensation files, and medical/miscellaneous files.

Applicant flow, termination, reference and transfer/promotion logs.

Turnover statistics.

Ensures proper requisitions are maintained for position openings.

Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate. At all times projects a positive, professional image to the employee population and the public as an agent of Benchmark.
