W Seattle got a multi-million dollar facelift
The W Brand
The W brand is based in New York, expanding to other cities around the world with cutting-edge design in their public spaces, signature restaurants and guest rooms that recall the region and local culture. As they re-invigorate their portfolio of properties, they’ve tapped award-winning teams of designers to come up with fresh concepts in Seattle with 423 newly updated rooms and suites. The décor is inspired by one of the area’s largest employers with aircraft architecture warmed by touches of life in the great outdoors.
W Hotels is part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, one of the leading hotel and leisure companies, owner of over 1,000 properties in 100 countries. The W Hotels brand is known as a contemporary and chic design innovator located in some of the most exotic and exciting cities in the world. They showcase a unique mix of décor that centers on music, entertainment and fashion in their restaurant concepts, premier spas and entertainment options.
This recent $18 million renovation at W Seattle was inspired by its majestic Pacific Northwest location and the historic details of the area’s aviation industry. From the polished and aerodynamic shapes of the desk and wall lights to the design of the chairs and patterned blankets, guests will immediately connect with the region and its urban roots in all the guest rooms and suites.
The designers haven’t forgotten Seattle’s outdoor recreation and logging history as well as the music scene that gives the city its vibe. In addition to the aviation-themed furniture and fixtures, the guestrooms also sport custom Pendleton-patterned wallpaper and plaid accent pillows. Krause + Sawyer, the designers, recognized that Seattleites are deeply connected to the region’s urban and rural heritage. They chose to promote the city’s tech innovations while respecting the natural beauty of the area.
The color scheme of each room employs the blue tones of Seattle, accented with purple, teal and gold. As a nod to the natural world, each room features a unique headboard “Lodge Wall” of backlit wooden beams.
Each guest room and suite offers the signature amenities of W Hotels: High-speed Wi-Fi access, Bliss Spa bath products, Bluetooth-enabled TV, the W Hotels Bed and the “Whatever/Whenever” service that provides guests anything they want, when they want it.
The hotel is located in downtown Seattle in the financial, retail and entertainment district. The award-winning restaurant, TRACE, and the hotel’s “Living Room” (lobby area) are vibrant public spaces in the city’s social scene. W Seattle will also host the first W Sound Suite in North America – a private studio for writer’s and professional recording artists, studio musicians and hotel guests to record on the road.
