The great philosopher Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” For service-oriented individuals with warm personalities, tons of energy and limitless enthusiasm, a hospitality position can be exactly that—especially if they pursue a career with one of America’s best hospitality employers. Great Place to Work, the consulting company behind FORTUNE’s list of "100 Best Companies to Work For," recently identified several that offer unbeatable culture, communication, bosses, and more. 6. Hyatt Hotels–$3,949 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Hyatt Hotels owns, franchises, or manages more than 500 properties in 47 countries around the world. Its employees describe the organization as one that is as hospitable to its workers as it is to its guests. Among those surveyed, 96 percent report Hyatt Hotels offer a great work atmosphere. 5. The Cheesecake Factory–$1,809 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, The Cheesecake Factory operates 178 restaurants in the United States alone. Employees of the upscale-casual chain describe the environment as exceptionally caring and respectful. The company promotes a work hard-play hard attitude with benefits that include flexible scheduling, culinary workshops, and employee gatherings. Among those surveyed, 96 percent say The Cheesecake Factory has a great work atmosphere. Ninety-five percent state that the communication is excellent, while 94 percent report they have great bosses.
4. Four Seasons Hotels, Limited–$1,570 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, this luxury hotel and resort chain manages 92 properties in 38 countries. The benefits it offers its employees are legendary within the industry. Anyone employed by a Four Seasons Hotel for at least six months can travel to Buenos Aires, Paris, Cairo, Bora Bora (or anywhere there is a Four Seasons Hotel) and stay at the luxury property for free. Other unique perks include welcome extras such as pet insurance and family movie nights. Among those surveyed, 93 percent report Four Seasons Hotels Limited offers a great work atmosphere. 3. Darden Restaurants–$8,600 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Darden Restaurants operates more than 2,100 restaurants including chains such as Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Yard House, and Capital Grille. Employees of the full-service restaurant company describe the workplace as supremely friendly. From a full week of training when hired to benefits for part-time as well as full-time staff, Darden Restaurants certainly invests in its staff. Their scheduling is so flexible, 89 percent of the employees say they can take time off when needed. Among those surveyed, 95 percent report the company provides a great work atmosphere, while 92 percent say they have excellent bosses.
2. Marriott International–$9,869 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, Marriott International operates 3,900 properties in 72 countries and territories. Their brands include Marriott Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, and more. The company is exceptionally family-oriented according to its employees—emphasizing work-life integration and a welcoming culture that 92 percent describe as “friendly.” Among those surveyed, 94 percent report Marriott International provides a great work atmosphere. 1. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants–$995.3 million in annual revenues
Headquartered in San Francisco, California, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants operates 62 luxury boutique hotels and 70 restaurants and lounges across the United States. As an organization that encourages diversity and individuality, its employees report that they feel comfortable allowing their own unique personality to shine on the job. They also enjoy the company’s creative, entrepreneurial, and zany culture. Among those surveyed, an impressive 98 percent say that Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants offers a great work atmosphere. Ninety-seven percent state that the employer to employee communication is excellent, while 97 percent also report they have great bosses.
