Position Overview:
Assist in maintaining the systems integrity of the facility boiler systems, pumps, ventilation systems, plumbing, water and sewage systems, the Energy Management System (EMS) and other building components under the direct supervision. Ensure that appropriate service manuals, technical manuals and blueprints are utilized during preventive maintenance, repair or replacement of systems or components. In addition, adhere to sound engineering practices, building codes and follows safety precautions.

Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Record all information for unfinished calls prior to shift change.

Duties & Responsibilities:
* Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
* Use proper equipment, wear, appropriate personal protective clothing and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
* Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
* Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
* Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
* Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.
* Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
* Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
* Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible.
* Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.
* Maintain all machinery in the Maintenance Department, repair or replacement of mechanical equipment.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose or repair defective components.
* Assist in maintaining appropriate logs, records and machinery history.
* Conduct preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
* Complete work orders as assigned for inside or outside machine shop work, such as carpentry, vinyl repair, painting, or plumbing maintenance.
* When assigned, operate the EMS to monitor the facility environmental conditions.
* Record all time and materials allocated to project work, maintenance, repair and preventive maintenance.
* Assist with removal of snow and maintenance of ice management when required.
* Participate in all Maintenance Department emergency work.
* Able to read schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings.
Job Requirements:
* Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
* Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
* Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds.
* Move up and down a ladder.
* Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
* Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects).
* Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
* Carry all equipment (e.g., keys, phones, pager, tools, radio) in order to maintain preparedness to carry out work tasks at all times.
* Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls.
* Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.


Education & Experience
* Graduate of formal mechanical trade school SENECA College or Building Operators Ticket preferred.
* Building Construction or related field is preferred.
* Four or more years of related work experience, preferably in a luxury environment.
* Opening experience in a hotel or residential building an asset
